Natural Stone Installation
Proper preparation ensures the durability and longevity of natural stone flooring. The subfloor must be clean, dry, and level to support the weight of the stone. Any previous flooring should be removed, and the surface should be reinforced if necessary, especially for heavier stone materials. Allowing the stone to acclimate to the installation environment for at least 48 hours helps prevent expansion and contraction issues. Measuring the area accurately and planning the tile layout in advance ensures an even and visually appealing installation.
Installing natural stone flooring involves carefully placing each piece with a strong adhesive or mortar to secure it in place. A notched trowel helps distribute the adhesive evenly, and spacers ensure consistent grout lines. Once the stone is set, grout is applied, and excess is wiped away with a damp sponge. Sealing the stone after installation helps protect against stains and moisture infiltration. The floor should be left undisturbed for at least 24-48 hours to allow the adhesive and grout to cure fully. Regular maintenance, including gentle cleaning and periodic resealing, will keep natural stone floors looking beautiful for years to come.
