Laminate Installation

Preparing for Laminate Installation

Before installing laminate flooring, proper preparation ensures a successful and lasting result. Allow the laminate planks to acclimate to the room’s temperature and humidity for at least 48 hours to prevent expansion or contraction post-installation. The subfloor should be dry, clean, and level to provide a solid foundation. Remove old flooring and check for moisture issues before proceeding. Measuring the area carefully and planning the layout in advance will help minimize cutting and ensure a balanced appearance.

laminate Installation Process

Laminate flooring installation is typically done using a floating floor method, meaning the planks are not nailed or glued down. Instead, they snap together using a tongue-and-groove locking system. Start by laying down an underlayment to provide cushioning and moisture resistance. Planks should be staggered for a natural look, with spacers left at the edges to accommodate expansion. Once all planks are in place, trim excess material and remove spacers before installing baseboards. Avoid walking on the newly installed floor for a few hours to allow it to settle properly, and regularly clean up dust and debris to maintain its appearance.
