Hardwood Installation
Before installing hardwood flooring, proper preparation is crucial for a smooth and long-lasting result. Start by acclimating the hardwood planks to the room’s temperature and humidity for several days to prevent expansion or contraction after installation. The subfloor must be clean, dry, and level to provide a stable foundation. Remove any old flooring material and check for moisture issues before proceeding. Measuring the area accurately and planning the plank layout in advance will help minimize waste and ensure a balanced, visually appealing floor.
During installation, planks should be laid out methodically, ensuring a consistent pattern and proper alignment. Using spacers along the walls will allow for natural wood expansion over time. Depending on the installation method—nail-down, glue-down, or floating—secure the planks accordingly, following manufacturer instructions. Once installed, allow the flooring to settle for at least 24 hours before placing furniture or applying finishes. Regularly cleaning dust and debris during and after installation will help maintain a pristine look. After installation, avoid heavy foot traffic for a short period to let the flooring adjust, ensuring a long-lasting and well-maintained hardwood floor.
